Dr. Carlos Chacon is a first-generation Mexican American born in Tuscon, Arizona. His immigrant parents were from small towns in Sonora, Mexico. For almost two decades, Dr. Carlos Chacon has lived in California.
While living in Arizona, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physiological Science from the University of Arizona. He then joined the University of Arizona’s College of Medicine three years later and got his Doctor of Medicine degree (M.D.).
He spent a short time in 2005 studying neurodegenerative diseases at the Università Degli Studi di Firenze in Florence, Italy. Then, he moved on to become a Resident in the Department of General Surgery at the University of California San Francisco in 2005. By 2008, he had shifted his focus to the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, continuing as a Resident for the University of California San Francisco. He earned the title of Chief Resident for the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in 2010.
During his time as a Resident, he earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Arizona, Eller College of Management. After his Residency, he landed a 12-month Fellowship from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) for the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. As a USC Fellow, he received advanced training for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Breast Surgery, Revision Surgery and Cosmetic Dermatology. His work during this fellowship also included learning non-surgical procedures and managing laser tools.
Work History and Experience
While he was in school, Dr. Carlos Chacon spent time as a Manager for Wyeth-Ayerst Pharmaceuticals in the Arizona Cancer Center. His 18 years of sales and consulting experience helped him understand consumers on a much deeper level.
He went on to teach cosmetic surgery as a clinical instructor for the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California in 2011 during his time as a Fellow. During this time, he also worked on patients for the ABC show Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition, where overweight participants underwent dramatic weight loss and typically chose to undergo plastic surgery at the end to remove excess skin.
In 2012, Dr. Carlos Chacon joined the Spa Divino as Medical Director and founded Divino Plastic Surgery. Located in Bonita, California, the spa offers a wide range of services to help patients relax and improve their appearance with beautification procedures.
